The history of the estate begins when the French football team had not yet won its first star. It is 1997, Jacques Chirac is drinking warm beers at the agricultural show and in the intimacy of a small Loire village a passionate couple is preparing to create one of the future legendary estates of the Loire. Yvonne and Jean-François Lamunière create, with the help of Françoise Foucault, the now famous Château Yvonne.

In 2007, Matthieu Vallée took over the estate, soon joined by Stéphanie, and together they produced white wines with a schist profile and infused reds designed for aging.

Two grape varieties are grown: Chenin and Cabernet Franc. At Pinard, we have been fans of this estate since the very beginning, and our customers are unanimous in their praise. While the La Folie vintage is ready to drink, we recommend waiting at least 2 to 3 years for the others. Some, like the Beaumeray, deserve to bask in the cellar for 10 years.

At the estate, the wines are aged in a cave, in the middle of the tuffeau, this iconic rock of the Loire, in barrels. How could a wine be happier? Huge crush on the wines of Château Yvonne ❤️
